VEKTOR
SYS.REV: 2024.1 // PNW REGION

Precision engineering for high-stress environments.

Specializing in non-linear dynamic time-history analysis and extreme seismic load modeling for structural integrity.

Architectural blueprint and structural drafting

Operational Context

Since 1998, Vektor Structural Dynamics has operated at the intersection of applied physics and architectural ambition. Based in the Pacific Northwest, our firm is uniquely positioned to handle the extreme seismic demands of the Cascadia Subduction Zone.

Our engineers utilize advanced non-linear dynamic time-history analysis using SAP2000 and ETABS. This allows us to model exact structural behaviors during simulated seismic events, ensuring that high-rise and critical infrastructure projects not only meet code, but exceed survivability metrics. We maintain active certifications with the Structural Engineers Association of Washington (SEAW) and the AISC.

To date, we have successfully engineered over 2.4M sq ft of commercial and industrial space across seismic design categories D, E, and F.

Engineering Capabilities

Our analytical workflows are designed to isolate load paths, identify critical failure points, and optimize material usage without compromising structural rigidity. We employ a strict 3-step workflow on all major commissions:

  1. Phase 1: Initial State Modeling - Digitizing existing or proposed schematics into raw geometric nodes.
  2. Phase 2: Dynamic Load Application - Simulating environmental stressors (wind, seismic, live loads) via ETABS.
  3. Phase 3: Material Optimization - Refining member sizes and connections based on output stress contours.

High-Rise Structural Framing

Designing gravity and lateral load-resisting systems for structures exceeding 20 stories. We specialize in outrigger systems, diagrids, and core-wall interactions. Our modeling ensures optimal drift control and occupant comfort under turbulent wind conditions.

SRV-02

Energy Dissipation Systems

Integration of viscous dampers, buckling-restrained braces (BRBs), and base isolation hardware to decouple structures from ground motion, drastically reducing base shear.

Concrete reinforcement detailing
SRV-03

Post-Tensioned Concrete

Advanced detailing for long-span flat plates and transfer girders. We optimize tendon profiles to balance dead loads and control deflection over time, reducing overall concrete volume and foundation demands.

Field Reports & Client Data

"Vektor's non-linear analysis of the Pearl District tower saved us 15% on steel tonnage. Their ability to model the exact behavior of the BRB frames under M9.0 simulated loads gave the city reviewers complete confidence."

Sarah Jenkins
Sarah Jenkins Principal Architect, Cascadia Design

"When we encountered settlement issues on the industrial retrofit, Vektor was on site within 24 hours. Their forensic assessment and subsequent micropile design kept the project from stalling. Pure technical precision."

Marcus Thorne
Marcus Thorne VP Construction, Apex Build Co.

"Their ETABS modeling is unmatched in the region. We trust Vektor with our most complex geometric challenges because they understand how to translate abstract architecture into constructible load paths."
